Pasta and a Letter from Far Far Away

While my ramblings on here may suggest otherwise, life isn't completely dreary all the time. I have experienced some lovely things in the span of a day.

Yesterday, I decided I had to get out of this funk. The stars (or rather, neurotransmitters) aligned and I could actually do stuff. I washed and dried my laundry that has been piling up for two weeks, folded clothes that needed folding, cleaned my entire bathroom, and best of all -- cooked after ages!

I enjoy cooking on rare occasions -- especially when I have someone to cook for. Since my parents are around, I decided to do it for them.

I made spaghetti in a bolognese sauce (I don't think I can call it that LOL I didn't follow any recipe, didn't add any wine, and used chicken mince because that's what we had at home.) IMG_2461.jpeg

I also added chunks of roasted aubergine in there and it turned out absolutely delicious!! It was hearty, umami, and all other yummy adjectives. IMG_2462.jpeg

I felt quite accomplished yesterday and as a consequence (I think) ate my meds, went to bed on time and had a GREAT SLEEP! And I was miraculously up at 8:30 am.

Then, around afternoon today, I went out to check the letterbox. I have been awaiting a letter from my internet friend, Kika, since a few weeks now. We were starting to think it got lost in the mail. But lo-and-behold, there it was -- a bright red envelope with the prettiest Christmas card I've ever seen. IMG_2472.jpeg

The thrill of receiving a physical letter is unmatched. Especially all the way over from Belgium!! It makes sense that Kika sent me this, since we met at an online zine-making workshop at least 2 years ago, and have been in close contact ever since. We love a tangible, crafty thing. IMG_2473.jpeg

The card is gorgeous and glittery, with a lovely note at the back (which is for my eyes only.) I can't wait to send Kika a letter back. We keep talking about how we are going to meet at least once in this lifetime and grab a pint together.

I felt so loved today. I am grateful to have lovely friends, even if they are far away. <3
